SOS
Common Scenario
Imagine being in a large shopping centre on a busy Saturday morning when the Account User has a meltdown (not a tantrum) and everyone is staring. She is swearing at you and has cemented herself to one spot. You feel yourself becoming stressed under the intensity of onlookers’ gazes and almost hear the judgment coming from their mouths, “what a terrible parent”; “that teenager wasn’t raised properly”. You can’t remember what worked last time because EVERY meltdown is rushing into your mind like a bad memory and you feel helpless. Your head feels like it’s going to explode but there is no help coming for you.

Attentio Solution
Attentio provides insight into the Account User’s tolerance levels and triggers (in General), and signs of increasing stress and overwhelm with strategies to support the Account User and protect them from chaos, violence and chronic adversity in SOS. The Account Holder and Supporters have ready reminders in Attentio to avoid sensitive situations, or, if this is not possible, to buffer the disliked or loathed situation with something the Account User finds enjoyable. Further, Account Holders can outline specific strategies that reconnect the Account User with their cognitive processes so they are more aware of their emotions, their responses to different stimuli and what triggers the impulsive fight, flight, freeze or fawn reactions. In tricky situations, SOS the Account Holder has outlined exactly what to do when you see the Account User escalating, or, if the Account User is overwhelmed, how to remove the Account User from the situation and began de-escalation. There are also helpful tips of resources to take with you that assist in calming the Account User.
SOS is extremely helpful when you feel overwhelmed. At your fingertips, you can quickly access information about how this Account User demonstrates distress and what you can do to support the Account User from being overwhelmed to calm. Having this information in your hand (phone) gives you confidence and strategies. Now you can ignore any unwanted attention and focus on the Account User who needs you to be very present right now.
